Australian company Demand.Film is launching a new cryptocurrency called Screencreds. The token will be paid out to users who watch and share the company’s film trailers.
Demand.Film is a crowdsourcing platform of sorts for documentaries and feature films that are not showing in mainstream movie theaters. The way it works is that users create – or demand – a film and promote the event. If the event gets enough support, the film viewing will go ahead. Demand.Film works in the background to handle all the logistics of the event.
With the launch of its new cryptocurrency, Screencreds, Demand.Films aims to further promote its particular niche in the film industry. If you watch a Demand.Films movie trailer and/or share it, you will receive Screencreds. “The trokens [sic] paid out will be based on the rate of conversion between the people who view the films and those who end up buying tickets. The payout will be based on the number of people who buy tickets after watching the trailer,” Market News reports.
Screencreds can be used to buy tickets to Demand.Films events and in the future, the cryptocurrency may be available for trading.
