A recent survey shows that freelancers are starting to use cryptocurrency regularly, in spite of the downturn the sector has taken.
Humans.net ran a survey among 1,100 freelancers. 38% of the respondents say that they have used cryptocurrency. 24% have not heard of it, while 41% have heard of it but never used it.
Furthermore, Humans.net found out that 29% of freelancers prefer to be paid in cryptocurrency.
The number may not be off the charts, but it is showing that adoption is growing among freelancers. One of the major reasons that they are open to using cryptocurrency is the removal of the middle man and the significantly lower fees involved. Any freelancer who has had to use PayPal or international transfers know just how much transaction fees can take away from one’s earnings. With crypto, one can take reduce these fees.
The people behind Humans.net has an even more positive outlook:
“Taking into account a similar study by Lendedu in September 2017, the number of cryptocurrency owners has almost increased threefold in a year: 14% in 2017 compared to 38% in the Humans.net recent poll.
This is a fairly dramatic increase, well over 50%, but that said we have to point out that, in both cases, the results reflect the knowledge and understanding of specific pool of respondents when compared to the general population.”
Humans.net is a new platform which serves as a marketplace for freelancers and clients to connect. They don’t charge commission or hidden fees.
