In a major move, the P2P cryptocurrency exchange platform Paxful has announced its plans to expand its operations in Africa by way of Lagos, Nigeria.
Paxful’s expansion comes in the form of a blockchain technology incubator to be based in Nigeria’s largest city. The incubator is slated to launch in the fall of 2018.
Paxful is starting the blockchain technology incubator in Nigeria because the country has the highest number of users in Africa. As such, it makes sense to use the country as a starting hub for the company’s expansion in the continent.
The company has named Chuta Chimezie as the Regional Director of Africa. Chimezie is known as a trailblazer in blockchain technology in Nigeria and has a strong presence in the tech and startup scene.
Chimezie says, “Paxful’s initiatives have not only helped those in great need here but are also helping African entrepreneurs achieve their full potential…the incubator is simply a starting point to help driven entrepreneurs in an industry that has shattered boundaries all over the world.”
